Localogy: Is Shipping Ripe for Disruption? A Conversation with Ship.com

Localogy’s Mike Boland sat down with Ship.com founder and CEO Joe DiSorbo to ask whether shipping is finally ready for AI-driven change. DiSorbo explains that small sellers make dozens of shipping decisions a day with information scattered across too many systems, often with the owner handling it late at night. AI fits that kind of repetitive, pattern-based work, and it can recommend fixes or apply them automatically, giving a five-person shop the kind of attention to shipping that used to take a dedicated team.
He walks through the two recent launches. SHIP AI reviews orders in advance, prepares shipments, catches problems early, and brings only the decisions that need a person to the seller. SHIP MCP gives builders a full set of shipping tools so any AI agent or custom workflow can rate, label, and track a package. On trust, DiSorbo compares it to onboarding a new employee: SHIP AI can prepare work freely, but spending money requires the seller’s approval by default, and sellers can grant more authority through simple rules as they get comfortable. He also shares early results, including sellers keeping SHIP AI’s carrier and service recommendation more than 90% of the time, and a batch of 20 orders that took about 25 minutes by hand being ready in under a minute.
Looking ahead, DiSorbo says he’s most excited about agent-to-agent commerce, where buyers’ and sellers’ AI agents transact directly and need real-time access to delivery cost, timing, and tracking. He expects small businesses to soon be asking whether an AI agent can buy from them and trust what they promise.
